Electrical FaultsDisaster has struck Southern this busy Monday morning! Network Rail called in at 05:24 to make them aware of a third rail fault just north of Haywards Heath. This means that the whole area has had to be shut off, with no power on between Wivelsfield and Three Bridges. Since the call, all services have been running adjusted, with Southern running from Brighton to Wivelsfield and from London to Three Bridges, Thameslink services also terminating at Three Bridges, and Gatwick Express services terminating at Gatwick. 4 sets of Southern's Class 171 'Turbostar' units have been sent out to run a special service for the day, running from East Croydon to Brighton to stop the service being too awkward for passengers.
The headcodes of these services are 2Zxx, and they are running one service every 30 minutes out of East Croydon and Brighton. There is a TSR in place through Haywards Heath, and the middle tracks there are shut while the workers on the track find the issue with the third rail.
